Abstract
ABSTRACT This article starts with a review of a K. D. White’s article on latifundia, long considered an essential work on landholding patterns in the late Roman Republic and early Roman Empire. It then traces developments of the research topic in literature that has been published since. Finally, it explores present and potential future trends and the direction the research field is taking.
