Abstract
Teenagers' mental health issues now need to be taken seriously, and they need to be treated with appropriate interventions. Studies have found that, teenagers with low self-compassion often experience mental health problems (Marsh et al., 2018). Counselling intervention is a method in fostering the well-being of the teenagers. In order to overcome this problem, the integration of counselling interventions between Reality Therapy and Tazkiyah Al Nafs (TR-TAN) was selected as the counselling intervention to improve the level of self-compassion of teenagers with mental health problems. This study was undertaken to provide a comprehensive overview of the Single Subject Research (SSR) design and how this design measures the effectiveness of the intervention. Three [3] teenagers with mental health problems became the participants of this study. An A-B type Single Subject Research (SSR) design was used. Data was collected through the Self-Compassion Scale instrument. Visual analysis through graph plot and calculating the Percentage of Non-overlapping Data (PND) were used. The results of the study showed that the level of self-compassion of the research participants was low before going through the TR-TAN integration counselling intervention and higher after going through the TR-TAN integration counselling intervention. This shows that the TR-TAN integration counselling intervention effective increasing the level of self-compassion of teenagers with mental health problems.
