Abstract

Abstract The effects of dislocation distribution on the low temperature electrical transport properties of deformed metals are considered. Calculations based on a simple geometric model are shown to predict apparent deviations from Matthiessen's rule in quantitative agreement with reported experimental results for several metals. Extensions of this model are also shown to lead to explanations for the effects of plastic deformation on the magnetoresistivity of metals and for apparent deviations from Matthiessen's rule observed in the thermal resistivity of deformed metals.
