Abstract

Abstract The thermopower of non-degenerate semiconductors is calculated for temperature-dependent energy bands using the quantum statistical formulae for the linear response. The effective, temperature-dependent, electronic and phononic energies are determined through a canonical transformation of the electron—phonon Hamiltonian and a mean-field approximation in the second-order correction. For the renormalized electron-phonon system, the phonon-drag effects are neglected.
