Abstract
In a discussion of a kinetic scheme of linear, irreversible polycondensation that takes the MWD of the reactants into account, equations are obtained, relating the characteristics of the prepolymers (MWD, M n, M w ) to the MWD of the resulting condensation polymers. The effect of monofunctional, monomeric and polymeric reactants on the MWD function and average molecular weights of the end products is discussed, and an attempt is made to assess the effect of cyclization on the polydispersity of the polycondensation polymers.
