Abstract
We discuss the effect of statistical fluctuations on the first and second moments of both the intrinsic rotational energy and the sum of spin magnitudes in deep-inelastic fragments, as extracted from measurements of the totalγ-ray energy and theγ-ray multiplicity, respectively. The calculations were done in the framework of a model that considers the thermal excitation of rotational modes in the intermediate dinuclear complex, accounting exactly for the correlations between the angular momenta generated in both nuclei.
