Abstract

At room temperature structure-sensitive parameters of saturated solutions of potassium iodate, potassium pentaborate and sodium pentaborate have been measured at various values of acidity. It is shown that osmotic pressure, density and surface tension have sharply nonmonotonic character and can be correlated with the crystal growth and nucleation processes. The best crystals grow from the least associated solutions, i.e. from solutions which have the largest value of osmotic pressure.
