Abstract

Low vigorous, vegetative sweet and sour cherry rootstocks, Gisela 5, Inmil GM 9 and Camil GM 79 were used as model plants for these studies. Cultures were grown on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium, on MS medium with double strength, half-strength and quarter-strength macro salts with 4.4 μM BA, 0.5 μM NAA, 0.3 μM GA 3 , 20 g dm' sucrose and 7 g dm -3 agar. Control medium contained only water and agar. All chemical analyses were monitored in callus, stem and leaves. Gisela 5 had the highest macroelement content (N, K, Ca and Mg) on MS 2x, as well as the best growth and development, whereas the highest content of P was recorded on MS medium. Inmil GM 9 had the highest macroelement content on MS medium along with the best growth and development, excluding N, the highest content of which was registered on MS 2x. Genotype Camil GM 79 also had the highest content of N on MS 2x, and P, K, Ca and Mg on MS medium. However, this genotype also performed better on MS 1/2 medium. In all three genotypes, the highest content of N and K, with the content of N predominating, was registered in shoot leaves.
