Abstract

The results reported below were obtained in a kinetic study of the stability of adhesive joins involving polyimide films and the copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. The kinetics of changes in the crystallinity of the adhesive were investigated during the formation of joins and during isothermal annealing of the latter. It is shown that the lowering of direct pull stress is mainly due to crystallization of the adhesive resulting in higher internal stresses in the joins.
