Abstract

Abstract The Economic Contract Law of the People's Republic of China, enacted in December 1981 and put into effect on July 1, 1982, represents the regime's attempt to bring the policies of economic reform within the scope of the renascent legal system. The law reflects the regime's efforts to balance the imperative of central economic planning with the role of local market forces. Thus, the law reveals the impact of economic policy on legislation.1
