Abstract

Dizziness is still one of the perplexing diagnostic mazes in medicine. To go through the maze, a road map for the diagnosis of the dizzy patient is outlined. In this map, navigation along 5 different routes, i.e. diagnostic questions, leads to 10 different destinations, i.e. clinical presentations of dizziness. Each destination has its own anatomical diagnosis, etiological diagnosis and line of suggested diagnostic tests. This road map ensures reaching a rational diagnosis in over 90% of dizzy patients without wasting the physician’s time or ordering unnecessary costly tests for the patient.
