Abstract

Digitalization has brought about a fundamental shift in the way politics is conducted, whether by the government, political parties, or the general public. The digital age has changed political communication with increasingly sophisticated information and communication technologies. After two decades, the internet has changed many aspects of human life, including democracy. Since the introduction of the internet to Indonesia in the 1990s, a new phenomenon known as online political communication has emerged. has changed the conventional approach to political communication that has been distorted by conventional media. One of this article's goals is to provide a theoretical and practical discussion of this problem. This article discusses in a theoretical manner how the internet has changed the theory of classical political communication; how new internet features can improve political communication in terms of quantity and quality; and what problems might arise throughout this process. In the future, political communication may not always rely on digital media, such as the Internet, which has potential for use in political communication processes.
