Abstract

The rapid development of China's urban modernization has become an important driving force for the flourishing of various economic, social and cultural sectors. At the same time, the process of urbanization has led to the serious phenomenon of "urban diseases", particularly urban water problems. To effectively mitigate the negative impacts of urban floods and droughts, China has proposed a nature-based solution - the sponge city concept. Furthermore, urban renewal initiatives and the Old Urban Renewal Programme (OURP) are vital components in sustainable development to ensure quality urban development and enhance residents' health and well-being.
