Abstract
The relation between developments in the science and technology of coloration and changes in the educational system forcolouristsis emphasised, with particular reference to the Society's Associateship scheme. The trend away from science in the schools is discussed in relation to the requirements of the coloration industry. Personal views are expressed about the way in which the Society's scheme could develop in the future.
