Naval Engineers JournalVolume 77, Issue 5 p. 763-765 The Daily Worth of a Warship COMMANDER ROBERT E. APPLE, COMMANDER ROBERT E. APPLE U.S.N. Retired The author graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy in 1943 with a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering and from the U. S. Naval Post Graduate School in 1948 with an M.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. His 21 years of commissioned service in the U. S. Navy through the rank of Commander included 15 years of Engineering Duty. His experience included design, research, operation and repair on a large variety of surface vessels and hydrofoils, terminating with three years on the staff of Commander Cruisers-Destroyers, Atlantic Fleet as Assistant Maintenance Officer. In June 1964 he retired from the Navy and joined the naval architectural marine engineering firm of M.
