Abstract

Reducing the transportation sector's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by transitioning away from fossil fuels and its impact on communities and the environment continues to receive considerable attention. In 2022, the U.S. transportation sector was responsible for generating the largest share of the United States' GHG emissions at approximately 37 percent of total emissions.1 Electric vehicles (EVs) represent a viable option that can contribute significantly to reducing transportation sector emissions. As EVs become increasingly prevalent, ensuring the availability of adequate charging infrastructure to support these vehicles is a top priority of the Biden Administration and many states.
