Abstract
The cross-sections for the binary and ternary fission of U and Pb induced by alpha-particles of energies at 5.1, 8.8 and 12.7 GeV have been determined by using a polycarbonate (makrofol) as a detector of the fission fragments. The values obtained for the cross-sections are discussed and compared with those obtained with high-energy protons.
