Abstract
The cross-sections for the binary and ternary fission of U and Pb induced by deuterons of energies at 4.4, 6.3 and 8.3 GeV have been determined by using a polycarbonate (Makrofol) as a detector of the fission fragments. The values obtained for the cross-sections are discussed and compared with those obtained with high-energy protons and alpha-particles.
