Abstract

Corpus-driven lexicography and the International Journal of Lexicography (IJL) made their first appearance in the world in 1987 and 1988 respectively. This article traces the impact of corpus evidence and corpus technology on lexicography—in particular English lexicography for foreign learners—since that time, through the eyes of contributors to the journal and their contemporaries. It also discusses prospects for the future of corpus-based and corpus-driven lexicography.
