Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of nexium (esomeprazole) in treatment of peptic ulcer with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Methods 90 patients of peptic ulcer with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage were randomly divided into the observation group(45 cases) and the control group(45 cases), the observation group were given nexium, amoxicillin and clarithromycin; and the control group were given ranitidine, amoxicillin and clarithromycin. The clinical efficacy of the two groups were compared after 14 days. Results The total effective rate of the observation group(97.8% ) was higher than the control group( P < 0. 05 ), the difference was statistically significant; pH of the observation group after 24 and 48hours were increased significantly than the control group ( P < 0.05) ;the Hp eradication rate in the observation group was higher than the control group(P <0. 05) ,the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion The clinical efficacy of nexium in treatment of peptic ulcer with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage was better. It could increase pH of gastric juice rapidly, and enhance the role of antibiotics in the eradication of Helicobacter pylori(Hp) ,and it was worth to promote clinically. Key words: Esomeprazole; Peptic ulcer; Upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage
