Abstract

Objective To observe the changes and significance of pulmonary water content,ICMA-1 and E-selectin in sepsis rats and exploring its role in glutamine. Methods 56 SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:the control group, the sepsis group and the treatment group. The expression of ICMA-1 and E-selectin was detected.Pulmonary water content was detected, and the morphological changes were observed. Results Compared with the control group and the treatment group in 24 h,the water content of the sepsis group was significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with the control group and the treatment group, the expression of ICMA-1 was significantly increased in the sepsis group(P<0.05).The expression of E-selectin of the sepsis group and the treatment group was achieved the peak value at 6 h and decreased gradually at 24 h.Light microscopy examination of the sepsis group revealed pulmonary edema,RBC and neutrophil infiltration. Conclusion The expression of ICMA-1 and E-selectin in sepsis rat was significantly increased, probably leading to the necrosis and apoptosis of pulmonary VEC,as well as the occurrence of acute lung injury(ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).Glutamine had protective effect to pulmonary VEC. Key words: Sepsis; Vascular endothelial cell; ICMA-1; E-selectin; Glutamine
