Abstract
The Reform and Opening-up Period in China not only led to the revival of all spheres of public life but also contributed to the emergence of new local artistic associations with their own characteristic stylistic features. The Beidahuang Print School (the Great Northern Wasteland School) was formed in one of the new promising industrial and agricultural regions of the country — Heilongjiang Province in north-eastern China. The artists of this school brought the local landscape, as well as the life of a working man, industrial and agricultural motifs, into the national and world artistic culture.
