Abstract

This study focuses on the typological, cultural and chronological attribution of the Seima-Turbino bronzes, which were found in the Kuznetsk Basin and the Achinsk-Mariinsk forest-steppe. The authors provide a general review of pseudotextile ceramics, which were widespread in the early 2nd millennium BC in the area spreading from the Tom River to the Tobol River. It is suggested that this cultural association of the Kuznetsk Basin is related to the Seima-Turbino antiquities. The dating of the Krokhalevka pseudo-textile ceramics to the end of the 3rd millennium BC – the fi rst quarter of the 2nd millennium BC is substantiated. It is argued that the defi nition of the “Samus-Seima” period is incorrect and does not correspond to modern scholarship.
