Abstract

Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) is a kind of new drilling technology that has been effectively applied to pressure-sensitive formations of narrow safety density windows, multiple pressure systems. This paper summarizes the basic principles and various application scenarios of MPD technology. Taking Well A, Well B and Well C in Shunbei block as examples, the advantages of MPD technology in dealing with complex situations such as drilling, overflow and leakage in narrow density window formations are analyzed, and the key equipment, supporting technology and common abnormal treatment methods of MPD are proposed.
