Abstract

The paper concerns the use of informatics for aiding and activating initial design process of watercrafts. It deals with computational algorithms leading to work out the problem of energetic efficiency of vessels, particularly of inland transport barges. The first algorithm takes into account such parameters as main dimensions, kind of cargo, speed, depth of waterway etc. Through the means of the second algorithm various ship design were analysed particularly in order to find the answer, which units are the better: the single-hull vessels or the catamarans. The calculations was carried out with the assistance of calculation sheet and of my own program named ,,Barka. The analysis comprises several hundred cases. The results are shown in form of tables and diagrams
