Abstract

Why is our country, which has 602.3 million hectares of agricultural land, 226 million hectares of arable land, the world's finest black earth [chernozem], and other agricultural wealth, unable to feed itself according to its needs? Why does it not have enough food in good and bad harvest years alike? Why have the relatively few things that were still to be found in stores until recently vanished? Why is it that other developed and not entirely developed countries do not know of anything of the sort? Why is it that the main concern of many of them is what to do with the food and how to restrict the volume of agricultural production? Why is it that life is different for different people in our country and by no means does it always or for everyone correspond to the way they work? Why do our people lack the desire or the ability to feed and clothe themselves through their labor?
