Abstract

The long process of decay of the so-called “Françafrica” – a system of indirect control of Paris over its former colonial possessions on the African continent, created over the past half century, – is approaching its end. It is accompanied by the withdrawal of French military contingent, and recall of the French ambassador from Niger at the demand of new authorities, who seized power through military coup. These events were regarded in the world as a defeat not only of France, but also of the collective West in its confrontation with Russia, China, Iran, and other countries.
