Abstract

Arkady Vasilyevich Sokolov – Doctor of Science in pedagogy, Professor, outstanding world-known scholar in the sphere of informatics, library science, bibliography, bibliology, and related disciplines. The author recollects the history of his acquaintance with A. V. Sokolov, shares his impressions of the lectures, and tells about Sokolov’s participation in Crimea conferences and forums (Sudak, Republic of Crimea) in the period 2000–2017. A. V. Sokolov participated enthusiastically in 4 scientific and practical conferences “BiblioPiter. The letter and digit: The libraries on the way to digitalization” (St.-Petersburg, 2020–2023). The author reviews A. V. Sokolov’s contribution to science popularization project “NELF Lectorium”. Within the project, A.V. Sokolov delivered the lecture “Russian libraries on the threshold of post contemporaneity”. The author remembers A. V. Sokolov as a bright pedagogue, outstanding orator, and responsive senior colleague. A. V. Sokolov’s findings have to be comprehended and appraised. His memory will always dwell with us.
