Abstract

The study aims to describe the current situation and analyze some factors related to school myopia in students in grades 4 - 5 of primary school in Tra On town, Tra On district, Vinh Long province in 2022. Using a descriptive cross-sectional study with analysis, using a total sampling method with 507 grade 4 and 5 students, assessing myopia by eye examination by an ophthalmologist, evaluating related factors through a set of prepared questionnaires, analyzing data according to research objectives. The rate of students in grades 4 - 5 with myopia is 18,9%. Factors associated with myopia include: family history of nearsightedness; tutoring/studying at home continuously >1 hour; the posture of studying at home is not correct; watch TV frequently and watch TV continuously for >1 hour; frequent use of phone/tablet and continuous use >1 hour; frequent use of computers and continuous use >1 hour; do not regularly play sports/outdoor activities.
