Abstract
In reliability validation test, some tests are not independent. There are two special cases discussed in this paper. In the first case, the same test is applied to both system level and component level. In the second case, the same stress type is applied to the multiple tests of the product with different stress levels. A new test design method is presented in this paper, in which related individual tests are design together to meet the overall reliability validation requirement. In the first case, the relationship of time-to-failure distributions between component and pack is derived. Then the equation for the life test design is obtained, and the test design method is presented. In the second case, the tests with different stress levels are correlated with each other through a governing acceleration model. The equation for the test design is derived and the test design method is described. The test design methods are illustrated with examples for both cases.
