Abstract
To realize coordinated regional development is a prerequisite for sound, efficient and steady development of the national economy. In this paper, DMSP/OLS night light data of Shandong Province from 2000 to 2013 are adopted to analyze spatial and temporal pattern changes of regional economic development. Research results suggest that: The overall economic development of Shandong has been fluctuating. The economic development gap of different cities is large and a cross-regional economic coordination framework has not yet been put in place. Eastern coastal cities have been enjoying a sound development momentum, which can effectively drive the economic development of the surrounding cities.
