Abstract

The existence of people with disabilities is still not taken into account. Their role and involvement are still doubtful and often receive negative stigma from the community. This makes people with disabilities feel marginalized from the reality of social life because they are considered weak and useless. Biblically speaking, people with disabilities are the ones who have Jesus' attention. Jesus' mission is not reserved for people who are physically healthy and strong, but for people who are sick, suffering, and helpless. In other words, He is God for all people. This article aims to explain how the mission of Jesus, which transcends social boundaries, is influential in shaping a good self-image for people with disabilities and their role in the public space. The research method used is a literature study. This paper certainly aims to emphasize that Jesus' mission applies to everyone so that people with disabilities can also play a role in their limitations with their God-given talents. Keywords: the example of Jesus; the mission of Jesus; disability; self-image; marginalized people; people with disabilities
