Abstract

In this paper, an optimal sizing of solar, biomass and wind DG with balanced radial distribution system has been proposed for daily hourly load variation. The technical and economical indices like real power loss reduction, line load reduction, voltage profile improvement and DG investment cost savings are considered for analysis at different power factors. A combined sensitivity index approach to identify the most sensitive and optimal nodes for DG placement has been identified which is based on apparent load power and voltage magnitude. The optimum sizing of DGs using PSO for daily, hourly load variations, to improve the technical and economic indices is evaluated. The proposed PSO based approach with combined sensitivity formula performs better in terms of the technical factors and economic factor as shown in simulation results.
