Abstract

With the advent of the era of globalisation, different countries are faced with the need to exchange experience, including in the field of design education that is in demand now. At present, the scope of professional activity in the field of environmental, artistic and landscape design is becoming more and more extensive, and projects associated with it are becoming more and more complex. They not only pursue the realisation of a variety of forms and functions, technologies and materials, but also pay attention to how the idea is embodied, in which the figurative-emotional principle is expressed. In the methodology of teaching design in the universities of Russia and China, the role of such a discipline as painting and landscape in particular is being updated. Analysing the programmes of two reputable educational institutions 78 Научное мнение № 6 (2023) (Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design and the School of Design and Art of Hunan University), the author of the paper considers the role of landscape painting in the training of designers.
