Abstract

A batch of Tb3+-doped CaLaB7O13 luminescent phosphor samples was produced by a sol-gel preparation method. In order to confirm the phases, properties like optical and molecular vibration of the samples were characterized by using XRD, PL and FT-IR tools. Under UV and VUV excitation mode, the PL emission spectra showed a green emission band at nearly 544 nm, which was attributed to the 5D4→7F5 transition of Tb3+ ions. The color coordinates and color purity of the prepared materials were also calculated, and the obtained findings of the synthesized green-emitting phosphor indicate the suitability of the application for the optical display devices as well as plasma display panels.
