Abstract
The optical properties of (Y,Gd)2O3:Eu and Y2O3:Eu were examined under both UV and VUV excitation. The evaluation found that the optical properties were greatly different between VUV and UV excitation. Higher luminance and shorter afterglow were also confirmed in comparison with Y2O3:Eu. Additionally, the temperature dependence of the luminance was improved by Gd substitution.
