Abstract
France and Russia are two great centers in the world of mathematics. For many historical reasons, Vietnam’s education, in general, and mathematics education, in particular, have many connections with and have been influenced both positively and negatively by these countries. This report represents the results of theoretical research on the New Math movement, and the history of mathematics education in France, Russia, and Vietnam. We have conducted several investigations, summarized experience, and interviewed experts to determine these relationships and their influence on Vietnam’s mathematics education.
