Abstract

A two-stage method for the synthesis of carbon foam with cellular structure is proposed. In the first stage, liquid products of pyrolysis of the propane-butane mixture are obtained in the presence of an inert gas, in the second stage these products are foamed at a temperature of 850 °C with the formation of carbon of cellular morphology. It has been found that liquid products predominantly consist of polycyclic aromatic compounds of different composition. The paper presents data on the structure and some physico-chemical characteristics of the material obtained.
