Abstract
A series of eleven metallic nitrosopentacyanoferrate (nitroprusside) salts has been prepared and their i.r. visible and u.v. spectra investigated in the solid state using potassium bromide as the carrier medium. The i.r. spectra also were investigated using the mull technique. The spectral data are discussed and a structure for the nitroprusside ion consistent witt these data is suggested. X-ray diffraction data are reported for the compounds.
