Abstract

M‐type calcium substituted barium hexaferrite having composition Ba1−xCaxFe12O19 (x = 0.0, 0.5) were synthesized by solid state reaction method. Structure and dielectric properties were systematically investigated. The Rietveld refinement of X‐ray powder diffraction revealed that the samples were single hexagonal magnetoplumbite phase with space group P63/mmc. The variation of dielectric constant (e′) and dielectric loss (tanδ) with temperature from 50 to 300 °C and with frequency from 10 Hz to 10 MHz for both the samples were analyzed. It was also observed that with the incorporation of Ca, dielectric constant and dielectric loss decreased. It has been observed that with substitution of Ca, coercivity increased and maximum magnetization decreased.
