Abstract
This paper proposes a synchronous Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) technique for two level voltage source inverter fed railway traction drive. To ensure synchronization even during dynamic conditions, the triangular carrier is generated from the phase information of the reference voltage. Phase and gain compensation methods have also been worked out to eliminate the phase and volt-second error between reference voltage and the fundamental component of the pulse width modulated inverter output voltage. Further, to improve the DC bus utilization, a compatible overmodulation method has also been developed. The proposed synchronous SVPWM method is validated by simulating in MATLAB/SIMULINK platform and the results are presented.
