Abstract

Protecting the patient from complications, total tympanomastoidectomy (TTM) does not provide cure or termination of the inflammatory process in the middle ear. One of the current issues of otosurgery is the reconstruction of the middle ear subjected to TTM, carried out in order to treat or prevent the development of the “operated ear disease”, as well as its functional restoration. In this study we aimed at assessing the effectiveness of this method of surgical rehabilitation in patients who developed operated ear disease. The study included 326 patients. In conclusion, the middle ear reconstruction method that we proposed allows to obtain positive morphological and functional results.
