Abstract
The influence of surface roughness upon the thick target correction function used in routine PIXE analysis is considered. New absorption parameters are deduced from data generated by the Monte Carlo method. The correction proposed due to surface roughness can be used for a surface roughness corresponding up to one half of the proton range.
