Abstract

This article constitutes the first publication of Natemakhora’s funerary texts. They were found in 1964 during the excavations undertaken in the «secteur W» of the Napatan-Meroitic necropolis at Sedeinga. At that time Jean Leclant was a member of Michela Schiff Giorgini’s team. The four complementary inscriptions in cursive Meroitic (REM 1090, 1091, 1116 and 1144) presented here provide a very detailed prosopography of the local prince who led the nomes of Sedeinga (Atiye) and Ta-Wadj, on the opposite bank, around the end of second century AD.
