Abstract

The lecture is devoted to one of the most actual problems of the contemporary cardiology – the paroxysmal cardiac arrhythmias in clinical practice. The basic principles for the identification of supraventricular tachycardias (SVT) and their mechanisms, as well as clinical characteristics and ECG diagnosis of certain types of arrhythmias are discussed. There are presented medical treatment of patients with paroxysmal SVT – acute management and preventive therapy. The general principles of electrophysiology diagnostics and catheter treatment of arrhythmias are described. The mechanisms of action of antiarrhythmic drugs, indications and contraindications for their use, and also effectiveness and side effects are pointed out.
