Abstract
The article highlights the problem of hypertension, which requires a comprehensive approach that includes prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The risk factors for hypertension published in the guidelines of the European Society of Hypertension are listed. Indapamide, to which the study is devoted, has not only high antihypertensive efficiency, but also a neutral metabolic effect and organoprotective properties. It affects endothelial dysfunction, reduces stiffness of large arteries, left ventricular hypertrophy, microalbuminuria, and is metabolically neutral. This makes its use effective and economically beneficial.
