Abstract

Kiai Haji As'ad Humam has created a method for Muslims to master the recitation of the Quran in a short and fast period which is the Iqra' method. The Iqra' method is a basic teaching method of reading the Qur'an that has been adapted through old methods such as Baghdadi and Qiraati so that the goal of learning to read the Qur'an can be achieved in a short and fast time. Thus, this study aims to analyze the contribution of Kiai Haji As'ad Humam to the compilation of the Iqra' book. The researcher uses a qualitative method by collecting documents. The document consists of Iqra' books, magazines, journals and the writings of previous researchers. The results of the study show that the compilation of the Iqra' book, which was initiated by Kiai Haji As'ad Humam, has generally had a positive impact on the mastery of reciting the Qur'an because it is arranged in stages starting from a low level to a high level. The study also found that his contribution in compiling the book Iqra' has successfully helped the community in dealing with the illiteracy of the Quran. This study is expected to be beneficial to students and teachers in the mission of combating illiteracy of the Qur'an as well as attracting the interest of the public in learning and mastering the recitation of the Qur'an.
