Abstract

Flexible organic–inorganic composites of Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR)/Barium hexaferrite (BHF, BaFe 12 O 19 ) have been prepared with different weight percentages (0 phr, 2.5phr, 5phr, 10phr) by solution casting method. The BHF was first prepared by sol–gel auto combustion method by using 'urea and ethylene glycol. The phase quantification and structural analysis were carried out through the Rietveld refinement of the X-ray diffraction of synthesized BHF particles with MAUD software having a low sig value. After the confirmation of the BHF structure, the SBR/BHF polymer composites of different phr were synthesized. And all these composites were thoroughly characterized by using different techniques. The uniform distribution of filler particles in the SBR polymer matrix is confirmed by the X-ray diffraction pattern. The homogeneous distribution of filler in the SBR polymer matrix at different phr was confirmed by SEM study. The influence of filler loading (0–10 phr), frequency (1 kHz-1 MHz), and temperature (25 °C-100 °C) on the electrical and dielectric properties of polymer ceramic composite was studied. The magnitude of capacitance and the resistance were calculated from the simulation of the Nyquist plot with an equivalent circuit.
