Study on the application of clinical pathway in sphincter- saving surgery of lower position rectal carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To study the effects of the application of clinic pathway in sphincter - saving sur-gery of lower position rectal carcinoma. Methods Sixty - three cases with sphincter - saving surgery of lower po-sition rectal carcinoma were divided into experimental group and control group randomly. The experimental group was given nursing, diagnosis and treatment, and healing according to the clinic pathway management. Control group was given the traditional holistic nursing care. We observed and compared five items of two groups: the. days of hospitalization, medical cost, function rehabilitation quality, awareness of disease and degree of patients' sat-isfaction. Results Compared with the control group, days of hospitalization of experimental group shortened 3. 44 days (P <0. 05), the average medical cost decreased 2224RMB (P <0. 05), the excellent function rehabilita-tion reached 81.25% (P <0. 05), the awareness of disease and the satisfactory degree were much higher (P <0. 05) . Conclusion Application of clinic pathway can shorten days of hospitalization, decrease medical coat,promote activity of patients taking part in nursing and treatment, and accelerate the function rehabilitation of pa-tients.
