Abstract

This paper demonstrates a modulation method for a spread spectrum communication system in which a relatively large pulse compression ratio is usable for a narrow transmission bandwidth employing specially designed surface acoustic wave devices. We present the circuit configuration and discuss merits, performance, and drawbacks of the system. We also describe a basic experiment on the SAW device which verifies the feasibility of the system.
